About the Role:

The Family Time & Casework Support is responsible for the supervision and transportation of BACS Children or young persons to and from family time visits with their natural family/significant others.

The key objectives of the role include:

  • Supervise the child or young person’s safety, wellbeing, and welfare whilst in the presence of their natural family/significant others, health professionals etc.
  • Ensuring the contact visit is a positive experience as much as possible for all participants.
  • Liaising with internal and external agencies, carers, and natural family/significant others.
  • Communicate with carers, parents and children in a consistent and appropriate manner maintaining professionalism and confidentiality at all times.
  • Ensure the environment is safe and appropriate.
  • Provide opportunities that maximise parent/child interaction and engage children in an interesting, calm, and positive manner.
  • Transport child or young person to and from family time as required.
  • Transport child or young person to and from medical appointments, respite and other appointments as required.
  • Provide an informative, factual written case note detailing observations made including activities, results of activities and any issues identified during the contact visit and take phots for life story work as part of the documentation process.

Essential Criteria:

  • Certificate IV in Community Services or equivalent (Desirable)
  • Availability to work flexible hours and Monday to Sunday
  • Current valid Driver’s licence.
  • Demonstrated report-writing skills.
  • Ability to work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and their leaders, respecting traditional culture and ways of doing business.
  • Demonstrated cultural awareness and sensitivity
  • Ability to build relationships with all levels of the organisation and the community.
  • Sound interpersonal skills, including the ability to demonstrate empathy when required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and proactively manage workload.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and to exercise tact, initiative, and sound judgement.
  • Demonstrated ability to work flexibly within tight time schedules and in accordance with variable workload demands.
  • Ability to hold all relevant security clearances including National Police Check and Working with Children clearances
