The Opportunity
We are seeking a reliable and safety-focused Truck Driver and Store person to join our John’s Building Supplies site in Welshpool, WA. This is a blended role across driving and warehouse operations, supporting the safe and efficient delivery and collection of building products to customers and job sites, and when you are not on the road you will support the warehouse and yard team with receiving, picking, packing, loading and dispatch.
You will play a key role in customer service, operational efficiency and safety outcomes. The role requires a practical, hands-on approach, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to working safely at all times.
What you will be doing
- Delivering and collecting building products to customers and job sites safely, on time, and with a professional approach
- Loading and unloading goods accurately using forklift, manual handling techniques, and crane where applicable
- Securing loads correctly using approved load restraint methods, completing load checks, and ensuring safe placement and weight distribution
- Completing delivery documentation such as manifests, dockets and proof of delivery, and communicating any delays, access issues or delivery concerns early
- Conducting basic daily vehicle checks and keeping the vehicle clean and operationally ready, including reporting any faults or maintenance needs promptly
- Supporting warehouse and yard operations when not on the road, including receiving and checking incoming stock, put away, picking, packing, staging orders and preparing goods for dispatch
- Maintaining a clean, organised and safe warehouse, yard and loading zone, and reporting hazards, incidents or near misses
- Following all safety requirements, including WHS policies, site procedures, road laws, fatigue obligations and Chain of Responsibility requirements
What you will bring
Essential
- Valid HR, HC or MC Truck Licence (as applicable)
- Current forklift licence (mandatory)
- Acceptable and current driving record
- Demonstrated experience operating trucks of the required class, including safe loading and unloading practices
- Experience with load restraint, load checks and delivery paperwork, with a strong focus on accuracy
- Previous warehouse, storeperson or logistics experience, including pick, pack and goods receipting, and a practical hands-on approach
- Strong customer service skills and clear communication, with the ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
- A safety-first mindset, good fitness for manual handling, and strong attention to detail
Desirable
- White Card for construction site deliveries
- Experience delivering building products such as timber, frames, trusses or similar
- Crane (CV) Licence (where required for crane trucks)
- High-risk work and safety training, and or First Aid Certificate
