About the Role:

This is a permanent, full-time position (Monday to Friday, 38 hours per week) based at our Inverell site.

The Accounts Assistant is responsible for maintaining the accuracy and efficiency of financial processes. This role involves supporting accounts functions, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and contributing to the overall financial health of the organisation.

Key Result Area 1: Accounts Administration

Objectives:

• Ensure prompt investigation and response to stakeholder enquiries regarding accounts, invoicing, and payments, and provide support as needed.

• Ensure timely and accurate submission of claims and invoices to maximise cash flow and revenue for the organisation.

• Provide all BEST staff, suppliers and customers with a high level of customer service.

• Assist with end of month processes including bank reconciliations and end of year processes.

• Correctly identify and resolve accounts errors or discrepancies.

Key Result Area 2: Record Management

Objectives:

• Prepare invoices for payment authorisation, ensuring all invoices are processed accurately and in a timely manner.

• Ensure all supplier payments are made by their due date, and in accordance with supplier instructions.

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records and conduct regular reconciliations to ensure the accuracy of financial transactions.

• Effectively maintain high standards of accuracy in documenting services provided, ensuring that all services are appropriately documented and supported by relevant evidence.

Key Result Area 3: Compliance & Reporting

Objectives:

• Accurately record, maintain and file finance related data, invoices and other documentation.

• Establish and maintain effectively organised filing systems for accounting systems, both physical and digital.

• Abide by approved internal communication protocols, as well as relevant state and federal legislation, codes of conduct, service guarantees, and privacy undertakings.

• Stay informed about tax laws, labour regulations, and financial compliance standards to ensure adherence.

About You: 

Skills, Experience and Attributes:

• Excellent time management and organisational skills with the ability to multitask.

• High level attention to detail.

• Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills.

• Demonstrated experience in accounts processing using a computerised accounting system.

• Sound computing skills and knowledge of financial reporting packages (MYOB, Attache).

• Up to date and practical knowledge of relevant legislation and rulings that relate to Company operations.

• Previous experience in financial administration or equivalent role.

Qualifications, Licenses and Checks:

• Relevant qualification in Administration or Finance desired, but not essential.

• Current Drivers Licence (Class C or above).

• Police Check (or willingness to obtain).
