The Role
Step into a leadership role with a respected Indigenous owned civil contractor, overseeing a skilled team maintaining and repairing a diverse fleet of heavy civil equipment on a major coal site. This is your chance to combine hands on expertise with team leadership, ensuring our machinery runs at peak performance in a high profile, safety driven environment. You’ll be servicing, maintaining, and repairing a range of mobile equipment throughout our Central Queensland Coal operations and helping guide the next generation of fitters.
Location: Central Queensland
Roster: 8 days on / 6 days off

Point of Hire: FIFO – SEQ, Cairns or DIDO – Central Queensland

Key Responsibilities
• Perform on site servicing, preventative maintenance, and repairs to mobile plant, including heavy earth moving equipment, trucks, generators, and light vehicles
• Prepare new machines to site specifications
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical faults; attend breakdowns on site
• Carry out major engine and component rebuilds
• Mentor apprentices and fitters to develop skills and safe work practices
• Lead small maintenance teams on site when required, allocating tasks and monitoring progress
• Liaise with Fleet Manager/Workshop Supervisor to coordinate repairs, parts, and schedules
What You’ll Bring
• Trade qualification in Diesel Fitting (or equivalent)
• 5+ years’ fitting experience (heavy earth moving equipment preferred)
• Caterpillar equipment experience highly regarded
• Field service and hydraulics experience
• Strong safety and quality focus
• Willingness to work locally and away as required
• Air conditioning ticket and heavy vehicle licence (desirable)
• Reliability, initiative, and a team first attitude
• Leadership or mentoring experience (advantageous)
