Baywood has recently completed a major drymill upgrade and is now commissioning a state‑of‑the‑art automated sawmill, reinforcing our commitment to innovation and operational excellence. As part of this growth, we are seeking two experienced TQ Technicians / Mechanical Tradespersons to support major site projects, upgrades and critical works across our operation in Maryborough. This is a senior, hands‑on trade role suited to someone who thrives on complex work, takes ownership of outcomes and wants to be part of a business investing in its long‑term future.
About the Role
You will play a key hands‑on role across Baywood’s expansion and improvement projects, supporting plant upgrades, equipment installations and site modifications that will shape the operation for years to come.
You will:
- Perform hands‑on mechanical fitting, welding and fabrication work across site projects
and upgrades
- Support major plant modifications, equipment installations and improvement works
- Carry out mechanical repairs, upgrades and fabrication to a high standard
- Work closely with Maintenance, Operations and external contractors during project and shutdown periods
- Operate with a high level of autonomy on complex and high‑impact work
- Provide practical trade expertise during critical project phases
- Be flexible with work hours, including availability for after‑hours and weekend work where required to minimise production disruption
- Maintain strong safety, quality and housekeeping standards at all times
About You
You are a senior mechanical tradesperson who is trusted to work on complex, high‑impact tasks
with minimal supervision.
You will bring:
- A trade qualification as a Fitter & Turner, Mechanical Fitter, Fitter Welder or other relevant mechanical trade
- Proven experience with welding and fabrication in an industrial or manufacturing environment
- Experience working on large‑scale site projects, shutdowns or major plant upgrades
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem‑solving skills
- A reliable, solutions‑focused approach and strong sense of accountability
- Flexibility to support project work outside standard hours when required
- A safety‑first mindset aligned with Baywood’s values and operating standards
- A strong work ethic and willingness to go the extra mile to deliver critical work
