Role purpose
Safely prepare, charge and fire development and production blasts in accordance with the mine plan, site procedures and legislative requirements, delivering planned metres/tonnes while maintaining the highest safety and compliance standards.
Key responsibilities
Read and interpret drill patterns, face sheets, blast designs and mine plans
Inspect faces, backs and walls to confirm ground conditions are safe to charge
Select and prepare appropriate explosives, primers and initiation systems for the task
Prime and charge development and production holes (e.g. emulsion, ANFO, packaged)
Tie-in, barricade and manage exclusions prior to firing in line with site standards
Fire blasts in accordance with procedures and legislative requirements
Complete pre- and post-blast checks including gas testing, re-entry checks and scaling where required
Maintain accurate explosives tracking, charging sheets, shotfiring reports and statutory records
Maintain charge-up equipment, magazines and work areas to a high standard
Comply with all HSEC obligations, risk controls, permits and site-specific standards
Essential requirements
Underground hard rock experience (typically 3–5+ years)
Demonstrated charge-up and/or shotfiring experience (development and/or production)
Current Shotfirer / Explosives licence (as applicable to the jurisdiction)
Current Driver’s Licence and ability to obtain site clearances
Ability to pass a mine medical and ongoing D&A testing
