Exciting opportunity to join AVI’s Pacific Team! We’re currently looking for Program Manager for our Tonga office.
AVI supports the implementation of the Australian Volunteers Program on behalf of the Australian Government. The Australian Volunteers Program supports skilled Australian volunteers to work alongside organisations to sustainably support capacity development of people, organisations and communities in various countries across the Pacific, Asia and Africa.
The Program Manager will lead the in-country team in the delivery of the Australian Volunteer’s Program in Tonga. The role drives program development, partner organisation engagement, and public diplomacy and ensures the volunteers receive high quality and responsive support throughout their duration of their remote or in- country deployment.
Position Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a Program Management role
- Demonstrated management experience, including operational program planning and monitoring, risk and critical incident management.
- Experience working within an international government or multi-lateral funding environment preferred.
- Proven staff management experience, and provision of pastoral care and wellbeing support around sensitive issues.
- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, including the capacity to maintain open and constructive conversations in an international context
- Well-developed administrative, financial and organisational skills coupled with strong computer literacy
- Ability to network effectively, building strong reciprocal relationships
- Cross-cultural awareness, including an ability to work with stakeholders from varied cultural backgrounds
- Sound knowledge of, and commitment to the underpinning values, goals and objectives of the Australian Volunteers Program
