AVI supports the implementation of the Australian Volunteers Program on behalf of the Australian Government. The Australian Volunteers Program supports skilled Australian volunteers to work alongside organisations to sustainably support capacity development of people, organisations and communities in various countries across the Pacific, Asia and Africa.
This role is responsible for supporting a high standard of accountability and transparency in regard to the Australian Volunteers program transaction processing and financial operation.
Position Requirements:
• Tertiary qualifications in accounting and current CPA (or equivalent) status & 2-3 Years +Relevant experience in a similar role
• Demonstrated knowledge and ability to use basic accounting principles
• Experience in financial management preferably in a project management or infrastructure development context
• Experience working in an accounts payable system with emphasis on verifying adherence to contract payment validation and authorization processes and procedures
• Demonstrated expertise in applying financial regulations and procedures
• Strong organizational skills including the ability to meet deadlines, prioritise workloads and manage conflicting work demands
• Demonstrated competence with a range of software (intermediate to advance level in Excel) & programs including computerized accounting packages (Oracle / NetSuite – desirable)
• Demonstrated knowledge working with and within DFAT / other donor funded financial systems and practices (desirable)
• Experience in remotely and indirectly managing the finances of operations in foreign countries
• Cross-cultural awareness, including an ability to work with stakeholders from varied cultural backgrounds
