About the role:

As the Policy and Programs Officer, you will coordinate a small number of accreditation assessments each year, working closely with expert assessment teams, education providers, and the AMC’s Indigenous Policy and Programs (IPP) team to ensure culturally safe and inclusive processes. You will also provide high quality secretariat support to key AMC committees and contribute to policy, process, and standards development.

This role involves a mix of program coordination, committee support, stakeholder engagement, cultural governance, and policy work. You will manage multiple tasks with a reasonable degree of independence and play a key role in ensuring accreditation activities are evidence based, well governed, and aligned with AMC values.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate assessments of CPD Home providers, cosmetic surgery programs, and new medical specialty applications, ensuring culturally safe and evidence based processes.
  • Support expert assessment teams, including scheduling, documentation, communication, and follow up actions.
  • Provide high quality secretariat support to AMC committees, including agenda preparation, meeting coordination, minutes, and action tracking.
  • Work collaboratively with the Indigenous Policy and Programs team to uphold the AMC’s Cultural Safety Protocol in all engagement and decision making.
  • Manage stakeholder relationships and provide clear, culturally appropriate communication to providers, reviewers, and committee members.
  • Contribute to accreditation policy projects, standards reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinate program workplans, timelines, and deliverables to ensure successful project outcomes.

About You

You will bring strong organisational skills, excellent written communication, and the ability to manage complex information and relationships with sensitivity and professionalism. You enjoy working collaboratively, balancing multiple priorities, and contributing to culturally safe accreditation processes.

  • Minimum one year of experience relevant to program coordination, accreditation, governance, or stakeholder engagement.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective working relationships.
  • Excellent written communication, analysis, and synthesis skills.
  • High attention to detail and strong administrative capability.
  • Good judgement, emotional intelligence, and the ability to manage sensitive or complex issues.
  • Proficiency in IT systems and record keeping.
  • Flexibility for interstate travel and occasional extended hours.
  • Experience in committee support, governance, or customer‑facing roles.
  • Knowledge of the Australian health system, medical education, regulation, or accreditation.

Why Join the AMC
