About the ADAVB
The Australian Dental Association Victorian Branch (ADAVB) is the professional
association representing dentist students and dentists across Victoria. With a
long-standing commitment to improving the oral health of all Victorians, ADAVB
supports its members through professional advocacy, education, services and
leadership within the dental profession.
Working closely with the national ADA network, ADAVB plays an important role in
representing the interests of the profession, promoting high standards of
dental care, and supporting the professional development and success of
Victorian dentists.
About the role
The primary objective of this role is to support dental teams to achieve good infection prevention and control (IPC) practice through the following:
- Infection prevention and control education.
- Supporting accreditation guidance and workshops.
- Practice management support and information, including a range of resources.
- Compliance assistance in identifying and implementing current compliance obligations.
- Supporting upskilling dental teams to maintain currency and knowledge.
This role is part time (2 days per week)
Key accountabilities
- Provided high level advice and guidance to members and authorised practice staff on
clinical IPC, including staff health and safety, and reprocessing reusable
medical devices.
- Support the identification, development and delivery of accreditation and business management training for dentists, dental practitioners and staff throughout Victoria and Tasmania on request.
- Providing auditing services and continuing professional development to Victorian public health services upon request.
- Develop and present programs at conferences on request.
- Review and further develop ADAVB digital program materials for accreditation and
business management.
- Identify and respond to trends and developments in member enquiries, regulatory
requirements, national standards and guidelines.
- Develop and maintain website content and member resources.
- Contribute material to ADAVB communications and publications (e.g., Vic Dentist and eDM).
- Provide updates and guidance to Branch staff.
- Address member queries promptly via telephone or email.
- Represent Practice Plus at CPD committee meetings as required.
- Support the Dental Consultants (DC’s) in managing compliance breaches upon request.
- Work with the DC and Advocacy to develop programs and resources identified as
necessary.
- Consult with the Engagement Manager regarding training and educational opportunities.
- Evaluate the viability of potential new programs with the Engagement Manager and/or the
CPD Committee.
- Provide feedback on ADA IPC policies, procedures, guidelines, and resources upon
request.
- Contribute to other submissions upon request.
- Liaise and maintain a professional relationship with service providers such as dental companies.
Provide feedback and report the progress and completion of services for designated
clients or engagements.
- Maintain accurate accounts of member interactions using ADAVB database systems.
- Represent ADAVB Practice Plus professionally and ethically at all times.
- Liaise with the Practice Plus Coordinator about delivering consistent and coordinated
national accreditation compliance.
- Take part in staff meetings, conventions and other ADAVB events as required.
About you
Formal qualifications
- Certificate in infection prevention and control and sterilisation e.g.: ACIPC Foundation
Certificate or Graduate Certificate.
- Diploma of Practice Management or Certificate IV in Dental Assisting or Certificate IV
in Sterilising Services.
- Certificate IV Training and Assessment (desirable but not essential)
Experience
- Experience in developing and implementing IPC procedures and CPD programs.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively work with ADAVB members, practice staff and
Branch staff.
- Hold a sound understanding of private and public dentistry.
- Strong command of Microsoft Office PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint and Word.
- Ability to use IAuditor an advantage.
- Ability to work independently, as part of a team, and manage and prioritise tasks.
- Maintain privacy and confidentiality in all dealings.
- An ability to identify, address and disclose conflicts of interest.
- Membership to relevant IPC associations is encouraged e.g.: ACIPC, SRACAVIC
