About Ascent

Ascent is a wholly Australian, veteran-owned company, established in 2016 to provide professional engineering, project management and integrated logistics support services for our customers in the Defence, intelligence, security, and related industries.

We support Australia’s defence capability by deploying expert engineering consultants into high-impact environments with a core specialisation in Guided Weapons and Explosive Ordnance (GWEO), Aircraft Structural Integrity (ASI), acquisition, sustainment, research and development.

About the Role

Based at our office in Melbourne, the ICT Operations Officer is responsible for the day-to-day stability, security and documentation of Ascent’s ICT environment across a nationally distributed workforce. This role will be the first line of user support as well as involvement with the cybersecurity governance requirements of the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) and ASD Essential Eight.

Key Responsibilities

  • Endpoint Management, including asset management.
  • Identity and Access Governance.
  • Service Desk.
  • Vulnerability Remediation.

Skills

  • Familiarity with Windows and Mac Operating Systems, including the ability to fault find and troubleshoot basic issues.
  • Practical understanding of networking (TCP/IP, DNS/ VLAN).
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with non-technical and technical users.

Desirable

  • Proficiency with the Microsoft 365 Stack.
  • Experience or familiarity with Mobile Device Management Solutions, including Jamf or Intune.
  • Experience or familiarity with IdentityProvision (IdP).
  • Proficiency with Bash or PowerShell will be highly regarded.
  • Experience or familiarity with the ASD Essential 8 or NIST Cybersecurity Frameworks will be highly regarded.

Minimum Qualifications/Equivalent Experience

  • CompTIA A+, Certificate, Diploma or Undergraduate degree in related field (including but not limited to CompSci, IT, Cybersecurity) or demonstratable equivalent experience.
  • Ability to obtain an AGSVA NV1 Security Clearance. Australian Citizenship is an essential requirement.
