About the Role

The Clergy Healthcare Coordinator plays a vital pastoral and operational role in supporting the health and wellbeing of working and retired clergy across the Archdiocese of Hobart. This position is responsible for coordinating healthcare services and ensuring clergy are supported in managing their individual health needs with dignity, respect, and professionalism. This is not a clinical role. Rather, it focuses on care coordination, advocacy, and practical support, working alongside healthcare professionals, community services, and clergy to ensure appropriate and timely access to care. The role requires a person of warmth, discretion, and strong organisational capability, who can build trusting relationships while maintaining strict confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate healthcare services and appointments for clergy.
  • Support clergy in understanding and following their individual care plans, identify emerging needs and escalate concerns appropriately.
  • Provide practical support, including transport to appointments, liaise with hospitals, aged care, and community health services.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential health records.
  • Act as a central point of contact for all clergy healthcare coordination.
  • Promote a respectful and supportive environment.

Requirements of the Role

Essential:

  • Commitment to the identity and mission of the Archdiocese of Hobart; and an extensive understanding of the operation of the Catholic Church in Tasmania.
  • Demonstrated experience within an acute or community care environment (medical, aged care, or acute care).
  • Knowledge of the Australian healthcare system.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with other health professionals.
  • Ability to manage confidential information.  
  • Flexibility with workdays and hours
  • Current unrestricted driver’s licence 
  • Ability and willingness to undertake the relevant employee screening processes, including the provision of a National Police Criminal History Check satisfactory to the Archdiocese of Hobart and registration to Work with Vulnerable People (Tasmania).

Desirable:

  • Registered or Enrolled Nurse Qualification.
  • Current AHPRA registration.
  • Experience in care coordination or case management.
