Apex Building Products in Helensvale is seeking an experienced Production Manager to oversee all aspects of our manufacturing operations. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality production while meeting customer demand, delivery timeframes, and business targets. 

The Production Manager will plan, organise, and coordinate daily production activities, lead and develop the production team, manage resources effectively, and drive safety and continuous improvement across the factory. 

  

Responsibilities 

 

Factory Operations:  

  • Oversee and run daily operations while meeting customer demands and production targets. 
  • Handle ad-hoc issues with a calm hand and focus on problem solving. 
  • Manage production staff, including hiring, training, and performance management, to ensure a skilled and motivated workforce. 
  • Allocate resources, including manpower, equipment, and materials, to optimize production efficiency and minimize downtime. 
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains within the production process while implementing best practices and standard operating procedures (SOPs), 

Quality Assurance: 

  • Implement and enforce quality control measures and standards to ensure product quality and compliance with specifications. 
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify and address quality issues and non-conformities. 

Health and Safety: 

  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and standards in the production environment. 
  • Promote a culture of safety awareness and adherence to safety protocols among production staff. 
  • Investigate incidents and near misses, implementing preventative actions where required. 

 

Skills & experience 

  • 3+ years of experience in a Production Manager or Manufacturing Supervisor role, ideally within building products, steel, or manufacturing environments  
  • Strong leadership skills with demonstrated experience managing and developing production teams. 
  • Strong work ethic with hands-on attitude. 
  • Strong knowledge of WHS requirements in a manufacturing environment. 
  • Good problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions on the ground.
