Position: Principal Mining Consultant
Location: Australian office
Role Overview:
As a Principal Mining Consultant based in any of our Australian offices, Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne or Perth, you will play a critical role within AMC’s Business Transformation team, leading high-impact consulting projects and delivering strategic value to our clients.
What we do in Business Transformation:
Each mining operation is distinct, requiring years of invaluable experience to comprehend how economic and physical changes, along with mining and processing modifications, influence its current and future value. AMC’s Advisory group excels in business improvement and transformation services, boasting a proven history of delivering practical and long-lasting value-added solutions for over twenty years.
Whether our clients aim to cut costs, enhance productivity, or seek the next advancement, our team possesses the expertise and operational experience to swiftly pinpoint the most significant opportunities for improvement. We then assist in devising and implementing the right strategies to unlock that latent value. We provide a comprehensive operational excellence service to our clients, leveraging our unique intellectual property:
- Analyse: Pinpoint areas for improvement through a 10x Performance Diagnostic™, utilising our Comparative Benchmarking SmartData™ system, advanced data analytics, and Best Practice Scorecard™. Our SmartData™ system boasts mining cost and productivity data from over 300 different operations, employing the world’s most thorough site-specific dataset.
- Develop: Quantify and prioritise value opportunities, identify focus areas and intervention strategies, and establish a comprehensive implementation and change plan.
- Implement: Activate and support client task teams, implement chosen initiatives, oversee major programs, and monitor progress.
- Sustain: Track value realisation, transition support between AMC and the client, conduct post-implementation reviews, and reinforce changes to ensure they endure.
Our team also works closely with others in the business to:
• Conduct strategic workshops aimed at identifying optimisation opportunities.
• Supply benchmarking data to aid in optimisation, feasibility, and due diligence assessments.
• Create impactful executive messages and presentations.
• Design operational readiness studies and implementation plans.
• Establish frameworks for mine planning and business planning.
You’ll work in a well-established team, leveraging your expertise in the mining value chain and your strong analytical and communication skills to help clients transform their business. You’ll conduct thorough assessments of mining operations, identify opportunities for transformation, and often assist in implementing these programs. This typically involves site visits to understand current practices, engage with stakeholders, and gather information to find optimal solutions. While you’ll use established tools, you’re encouraged to innovate by introducing new ones or improving existing toolsets.
Your duties will encompass managing and delivering complex assignments while independently driving projects that advance client outcomes. With a strategic approach, you will support AMC’s market growth by cultivating strong client relationships, identifying new business opportunities, and participating actively in industry networks. In addition to project management, you will provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members, promote their development, and collaborate with AMC’s multidisciplinary professionals to design innovative solutions. Proven expertise in consulting will be highly desirable and considered important for developing and executing strategies that enhance client operations and emerging projects.
