We are seeking an Automation Test Engineer is to make a meaningful contribution to the quality assurance practice in the team. In this role, you will design, implement and maintain automated test suites that validate the functionality and reliability of our software products and daily operations. You’ll collaborate closely with developers, product managers and QA peers to identify testing opportunities and drive continuous improvement.
What you will be doing
- Reviewing requirements/specifications and project and user documentation to develop and align testing requirements.
- Developing, enhancing and executing automated test scripts for UI, API and integration testing using established frameworks (e.g. Cypress).
- Translating functional requirements into clear, maintainable test cases and scenarios.
- Providing timely and fit-for-purpose test summaries and progress updates.
- Integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps) for rapid feedback.
- Executing automated regression and smoke test suites; analysing and reporting failures.
- Logging defects with detailed reproduction steps, collaborate with developers on root-cause analysis, and verify fixes.
- Working alongside senior QA and development teams to align best practices.
- Participating in sprint ceremonies (planning, stand-ups, retrospectives) and contribute testability feedback early in the development lifecycle.
- Continuously assess areas for improvement in the Quality Assurance processes and contribute to the team efforts to iterate and improve overall.
- Assisting IT team members on both BAU and project tasks, including manual testing, when required.
- Supporting and coordinating Business users conducting User Acceptance Testing, when required.
Your background
- Bachelor’s Degree in IT or similar with ISTQB certification or equivalent.
- Solid foundation of professional experience in software test automation using Cypress, ideally in the financial services industry.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver automated tests in an Agile environment.
- Basic understanding of RESTful API testing (e.g. Postman) with a familiarity of CI/CD concepts.
- A critical thinker with analytical, planning, organisational and time management skills.
- Willingness and ability to contribute to continuous improvement of testing practices and overarching governance.
- Confidence and ability to structure and communicate material effectively in both written and verbal forms.
