Fire Service Technician Position Overview:

The Fire Service Technician is responsible for the installation, programming, maintenance,

testing, and repair of fire detection and alarm panels, as well as the servicing of all

associated fire safety equipment in compliance with Australian Standards and New South

Wales regulations. This role requires technical expertise, strong problem-solving skills, and a

commitment to safety and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Fire Detection & Alarm Systems (Fire Panels)

  • Install, program, commission, and maintain a wide range of fire detection and alarm systems (conventional and addressable).
  • Conduct routine inspections, testing, and servicing of fire indicator panels in line with AS 1851 and manufacturer specifications.
  • Perform fault-finding, diagnostics, and repairs on fire panels and related electronic equipment.
  • Carry out system upgrades, modifications, and replacements as required.
  • Maintain accurate service records, test sheets, and compliance documentation.

Fire Equipment Servicing

  • Service, inspect, and maintain portable fire extinguishers, fire hose reels, fire blankets, and hydrants in accordance with AS 2444, AS 2441, AS 3504, and relevant
  • standards.
  • Test and maintain emergency lighting and exit signs (AS 2293).
  • Carry out functional testing of fire doors, smoke alarms, and sprinkler systems as required.
  • Ensure all fire protection equipment remains compliant with NSW Fire Safety Regulations and site-specific requirements.

General Duties

  • Provide clear communication with clients and site representatives during service
  • visits.
  • Work collaboratively with the service team to achieve operational and compliance
  • targets.
  • Complete detailed reports, service sheets, and corrective actions for all completed
  • tasks.
  • Maintain company vehicle, tools, and equipment in a professional and safe
  • condition.
  • Participate in an on-call roster as required.
  • Adhere to Work Health and Safety (WHS) regulations at all times.
