Process Worker – General Labourer

Since 1876, Akubra has been crafting hats in Australia using a meticulous, time-honoured process built on skill, care, and tradition. Every hat takes around six weeks to make and moves through a 162-step manufacturing process, being handled more than 200 times by 60 pairs of hands along the way. The Opportunity

There’s an exciting opportunity at our Kempsey Workshop for an enthusiastic individual to join our Wet Section team as a General Labourer. 

As General Labourer, your responsibilities will include: 

• Operating manual machinery 
• Processing rabbit fur to make formed hat bodies
• Completing quality control activities 

The role is full time at 38 hours per week. Our workshop operates Monday to Thursday, with some opportunity for overtime. The rate of pay starts at $24.95p/h plus allowances.

• Punctual, dependable, and hardworking
• Safety-focused and committed to following site procedures at all times
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Able to pass a drug, alcohol, and medical assessment
• Full working rights in Australia
• Over 18 years of age preferred, due to the hazardous work environment
• Physical capabilities – ability to stand for long periods of time, manual handling, be able to lift up to 25kg and work in a humid work environment

The successful applicants will be provided with training and support as part of a structured training program.
