About AIM Defence
AIM builds high‑power lasers that protect people from weaponised drones.
We are an engineering-led, focused, disciplined, and lean team, working on some of the most challenging problems in the world. Your work will be difficult and rewarding, operating alongside teams working on laser physics, hardware, software, integration, testing, and deployment.
Every team member’s input matters.
Every delivery helps save lives.
The role
We are hiring an Operations Manager to lead a small operations team and keep the company moving. The role owns critical processes and projects that remove friction for engineering, delivery, and leadership.
As the company scales, you will be responsible for creating critical structure where it doesn’t exist, and building an operations team that enables the engineering and delivery teams to work more effectively by removing blockers and reducing unnecessary friction.
You will work closely with the Co‑CEOs and functional leads to turn priorities into execution with clear owners, milestones, and follow‑through.
What you will do
• Lead and coach a small operations team responsible for day‑to‑day execution.
• Translate company priorities into simple roadmaps and operating rhythms.
• Maintain core operational systems: facilities, procurement, onboarding, and internal readiness.
• Run cross‑functional projects with clear scope, owners, and deadlines.
• Identify bottlenecks early and close gaps that slow the organisation.
What we are looking for
• Experience running operations in an execution‑heavy environment.
• Keen attention to detail.
• Strong judgement, follow‑through, and comfort making trade‑offs explicit.
• Ability to build simple processes that improve speed and reliability.
• Desire to be hands‑on.
• An Australian Citizen who is able to hold an NV1 security clearance.
How to apply
Send a CV and a short note outlining a process or project you owned end‑to‑end.
