Essential Criteria
We welcome applicants from all backgrounds — experience is not essential, but a strong willingness to learn and contribute meaningfully to the lives of others is highly valued.
Applicants should ideally demonstrate:
- A caring and empathetic nature
- Physical capacity to carry out support tasks including personal care
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Willingness to work independently and as part of a team
- Commitment to ADSR’s values of integrity, potential, individuality, and relationships
- Comfort using technology (smartphones, tablets, computers)
- Current Driver’s Licence and access to a roadworthy vehicle (with comprehensive insurance)
- NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain)
- Current First Aid and CPR certification
- COVID-19 vaccination, including at least one booster
- Ability to respond calmly and supportively in challenging situations
Key Responsibilities
You will support people with disability to build independence and engage meaningfully in the community.
Duties may include:
- Supporting participants in Day Program activities
- Assisting with social and community participation (e.g. outings, events, recreational programs)
- Providing individualised emotional support and companionship
- Encouraging skill-building and independence in daily life
- Following positive behaviour support plans
- Record keeping, documentation, and incident reporting
- Assistance with personal care and meals when required
- Medication administration (if required)
- Deal with challenging behaviours of concern
- Deal with participants who may display physical aggression
- Domestic duties (when required)
Desirable Criteria
- Certificate III or IV in Disability, Individual Support or similar (preferred but not essential)
- Prior experience in the disability, aged care or community services sectors
- Understanding of the NDIS and person-centred practices
