About the role

As an Aged Care Advocate with ADA, you’ll play a vital role in informing, educating, supporting, and representing our clients, helping them make informed choices and ensuring their voices are heard and respected.
This role reports to the Team Leader and works closely with the Manager, Aged Care Advocacy.
The Aged Care Advocate is responsible for ensuring that all information and services provided are consistent with the purpose, vision, and values of ADA and comply with relevant legislation, quality standards, contemporary research and practice wisdom.
Key responsibilities
- Delivery of high-quality advocacy through information, education, support and representation.
- Provision of advocacy at an individual, group or systemic level to achieve satisfactory resolution of issues for clients or their representatives.
- Facilitate and deliver education sessions to aged care recipients and staff both within the community and residential aged care homes.
- Support clients to ensure they understand their rights, responsibilities and entitlements and provide support when they wish to voice their concerns, questions or complaints they may have about their services.
- Represent and promote ADA Australia at workshops, forums, public engagements, and networking events.
- Identify services that older people and people with a disability can use where appropriate.
About you
- Tertiary qualification in human services, social work, behavioural science or community
services, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience, education and
training.
- Demonstrated experience working with older people, vulnerable populations or people
experiencing barriers to accessing services.
- Knowledge of aged care, health and community support systems, or the ability to quickly
develop this knowledge.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including sound administrative skills and confidence using Microsoft Office and client information systems.
- A strong commitment to person‑centred practice, empowerment and continuous
quality improvement.
- Ability to build trust and work collaboratively with individuals and community
stakeholders.

Essential requirements
- Valid Australian Driver’s licence.
- Current (less than three (3) years old) National Criminal History Certificate.
