Position Overview
The Student Wellbeing Event Management Intern will support the Student Life team to design, plan, and deliver a wellbeing or social engagement event for the UTS student community.
At the commencement of the internship, the intern will receive a structured event brief outlining the event’s key objectives and message (e.g. social connection, emotional well-being, academic success), target audience, budget, timeline, theme, and success measures. Using this brief, the intern will design and deliver an event aligned with Student Life priorities, gaining practical experience in event design, stakeholder engagement, and evaluation within a university context.
Key Responsibilities
Event Design & Planning
- Interpret the provided event brief and develop a concept aligned with its objectives and
theme.
- Prepare a project plan including timeline, budget allocation, logistics, and risk
considerations.
- Identify required resources, collaborators, and target audience engagement strategies.
- Present the event proposal for feedback and refinement.
Implementation & Delivery
- Coordinate event logistics, bookings, suppliers, and volunteer support (as required).
- Develop a run sheet and oversee event delivery, including setup and pack-down.
- Support event promotion through relevant channels.
Engagement & Collaboration
- Liaise with student clubs, societies, volunteers, and other stakeholders.
- Encourage inclusive and diverse participation.
- Gather participant feedback.
Evaluation & Reporting
- Analyse participation and feedback data against the event brief objectives.
- Prepare a short evaluation report outlining outcomes and recommendations.
Selection Criteria
- Currently enrolled in the UTS Business School and eligible for the UTS Business
Internship subject (26600 or 26899).
- Strong communication skills – written, verbal and interpersonal.
- Creativity and initiative – ability to design engaging and inclusive activities.
- Organisational skills – able to plan, prioritise and manage tasks effectively.
- Teamwork and collaboration – comfortable working with diverse groups including students
and staff.
- Interest in event management and/or student wellbeing (desirable)
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office and familiarity with social media platforms (desirable)
Learning Outcomes
- Apply event design principles in response to a structured brief.
- Develop and manage an event plan within defined budget and timeline constraints.
- Demonstrate stakeholder engagement and collaborative planning skills.
- Implement risk-aware and inclusive event practices.
- Evaluate event impact using feedback and participation data.
