Production Supervisor

Description

Often supporting the Senior Supervisor, Supervisors assist in managing quality and ensure output from jobs meet customer requirements, meeting daily production targets. Communicate customer issues with the Sales & Account Managers and devise ways of improving the customer experience including resolving problems and complaints. A Supervisor is expected to communicate effectively in an efficient manner.

Production Planning, Execution and Documentation

 Understand all processes in your area, ensuring they are documented, repeatable, and followed

 Plan production and input into relevant documents with planned production targets

 Proactively manage daily targets, in conjunction with other supervisors, if necessary

 Ensure all production processes and requirements are documented in Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and maintained to support effective production

 All inwards good in each production area must be checked to be correct and entered in MYOB

 In conjunction with the Senior Supervisor, execute planned production in line with customer orders tracking production outcomes

 Assist in WIP and inventory movement for Production around Ability Works

 Ensure finished goods are shipped with correct documentation

Training and Support

 Train trainers and the support team on business processes and SOPs to manage the production floor when needed. Ensure SOPs are available and current for each production process

 When requested support the undertaking of Risk Assessments for new equipment and processes in your area

 Supervise supported employees rostered for forklift duties when required

 Maintain training proficiency of employees

 Assist in the identification of training needs of supported employees as they pertain to relevant Operations areas

 Help with time-estimation activities and provide technical knowledge for quoting

Workforce Management

 Negotiate with other supervisors to agree on employee placement and update rosters accordingly

 Supervise supported employees assigned to forklift duties

 Ensure adherence to procedures by crew members, including casuals and supported employees

 Monitor and counsel supported employees on technique and performance when required – The support team are available when there is a behavioural issue with a supported employee requiring escalation

Inventory and Materials Management

 Monitor and manage consumable inventory levels, working with suppliers to prevent production delays

 Update inventory in MYOB Advanced and manage stock counts, including year-end reconciliations

 Support the procure materials for production as directed by the Operations Manager

Work in Progress (WIP) and Reporting

 Manage WIP of all customer orders and provide data for end-of-month processes

 Manage WIP and inventory movement for production, reporting daily/weekly to senior management on project status and considerations

 Report daily output and explain variances to planned production targets

Operational Management & General Workplace Maintenance

 Factory start-up and shut down sequence activities including securing the facilities at the end of the day

 Provide support for the Engineering Operations Manager, Senior Supervisor, Scheduling & Supply chain Coordinator and other Operations staff on various projects as required

 Liaise with customer regarding on-site Quality Assurance, special requests and collection of records when required.

 Ensure workspace always remains clean and tidy, especially at the end of day.

Equipment

 Machine setup and adjustment ahead of planned production

 Identifying machine maintenance requirements and document. Complete if minor otherwise highlight to maintenance and record machine downtime.

 Highlight to the Engineering Operations Manager if there is a desired jig, fixture or check gauge is required for improving production outcomes

 Assist the Tool Maker / Maintenance Fitter as required

Ad Hoc Responsibilities:

 Undertake ad hoc projects as directed
