About the role
IOR is seeking a Mechanical Supervisor to lead workshop operations at our Port of Brisbane site. You’ll manage a team of fitters and fabricators, overseeing the assembly of fuel systems and general fabrication tasks. This role sets production targets, drives quality and safety, and ensures projects are delivered on time. Strong mechanical skills, attention to detail, and leadership experience are key. - Supervise a skilled workshop team, driving productivity, safety, and quality through clear direction and collaborative leadership.
- Set daily/weekly targets, run toolbox talks, and ensure fabrication projects meet IOR’s high standards and DIFOT goals.
- Manage tank fabrication, welding, painting, and assembly in line with Australian Standards and technical specifications.
- Enforce WHS compliance, conduct inspections, and uphold rigorous quality control across all workshop activities.
- Optimise workflows, support team development, and lead continuous improvement using Lean, 5S, and modern manufacturing practices.

- Trade-qualified in Fabrication (MEM31922 or equivalent)
- Tickets for heights, confined spaces, and forklift (or willing to obtain)
- Strong welding/fabrication skills and mechanical aptitude
- Proven leadership, attention to detail, and safety focus
- Experience in fabrication, and experience in a supervisory role (highly regarded)
