Project Manager Department of Defence – Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group (CASG) Location: Melbourne Employment Type: Ongoing ✨ About the Role As a Project Manager in CASG, you will contribute to the delivery of critical capability acquisition and sustainment projects that support the operational readiness of the Australian Defence Force. Working under limited supervision, you’ll coordinate project activities, manage stakeholder relationships, and support the delivery of outcomes aligned with Defence priorities. This role is ideal for emerging professionals with a passion for logistics, procurement, and project delivery in a complex, high-stakes environment. 🎯 Key Responsibilities – Assist in planning, coordinating, and monitoring project activities across acquisition and sustainment programs – Support contract management, procurement processes, and financial tracking using Defence ERP systems (e.g., SAP) – Prepare project documentation including schedules, risk registers, reports, and briefings for internal and external stakeholders – Liaise with industry partners, Defence units, and cross-agency teams to ensure timely delivery of capability outcomes – Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and compliance with Defence policies and frameworks – Maintain accurate records and support audit and assurance activities 🧠 Skills and Experience – Demonstrated experience in project coordination, preferably within Defence, government, or complex logistics environments – Familiarity with procurement, financial management, and sustainment planning – Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear documentation and engage stakeholders – Proficiency in project management tools and ERP systems – Ability to work collaboratively and adapt to changing priorities 🎓 Qualifications – Relevant tertiary qualifications in project management, logistics, business, or a related field are desirable – Defence or government experience is advantageous 🤝 What We Offer – Meaningful work supporting national security and Defence capability – Opportunities for professional development and career progression – Flexible work arrangements and a supportive team culture – Skilled based remuneration
