INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY • Fortitude Valley, Queensland 4006, Australia • Full-time

Description

Unita is an innovative national design & construct building company that prides itself on helping bring brands and spaces to life, by providing the best outcomes for our clients. Uniquely, Unita combines planning, design, manufacturing, project management & construction to deliver pragmatic end-to-end solutions.

Unita’s cross-industry experience means all our services are based on an unparalleled understanding of real-world success. Unita has offices within Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, and Perth equipped with over 140 talented & committed employees ready to make your dream a reality.

Unita specialise in all types of workplace, retail, hospitality & health-based fit-outs to name a few.

About your role:

Join Unita at the cutting edge of data, AI, and internal webapps. We’re building the next generation of internal platforms – powerful webapps that bring together data, AI and intuitive UX to help our teams work smarter, faster, and more strategically.

This isn’t your typical dev job. You’ll work end-to-end across backend, frontend, and AI-powered experiences, touching everything from schema design to smart natural language querying. It’s greenfield, product-led, and backed by real operational need.

We’re flexible on whether this role is 4 or 5 days per week, but we are very much an in-office kind of place – you’ll be close to the people using what you build, and stay connected to the business every step of the way.

What your days will look like:

  • Build scalable, intuitive webapps (React) with great UX and smart AI integrations
  • Own features end-to-end – from schema to prompt design
  • Write Python ETLs and set up backend pipelines to feed a central data warehouse
  • Use Cube.js to create fast, secure semantic layers for reporting and analytics
  • Work with leadership and end users to deeply understand their workflows
  • Champion best practices in clean code, secure data handling and automation

Our tech stack:

We’re working with a modular, high-performance toolset:

  • Frontend: Vite, React, TypeScript, Tailwind, ShadCN
  • Backend: Prisma ORM, Cube.js (semantic layer), MySQL CDW
  • ETL Pipelines: Python, Power Automate, CSV & SharePoint integrations
  • BI: Power BI dashboards layered on top of CDW
  • AI/LLMs: OpenAI & Anthropic integration for querying, summarising and smart suggestions
  • Dev Tools: CursorAI IDE – AI-assisted pair programming, refactoring, testing, and more

What you will bring to the role:

  • Solid full stack experience – particularly with TypeScript, React, and Node/Prisma
  • Strong backend or data engineering skills (MySQL, Python, Cube.js or similar)
  • Familiarity with BI tools (Power BI or Looker) and data modelling best practice
  • Curiosity around AI/LLMs – you don’t need to be an expert, but you’re excited to learn
  • A collaborative, pragmatic approach and desire to build webapps that solve real problems

When you join Unita:

At Unita, you’ll join a stable, nationally recognised design & construct company that’s investing in tech as a real driver of growth — not a side project. Here’s what you can expect:

  • Your platforms will directly support project managers, designers, and factory teams across Australia, giving you visibility of how your work shapes real-world outcomes every week.
  • Build modern data and AI-driven platforms from the ground up, with space to influence architecture, design, and best practice.
  • Access tailored L+D programs and work with cutting-edge tools like AI-assisted coding, semantic layers, and data modelling to keep your skills future-ready.
  • Collaborate directly with business leaders and end users, cutting through red tape and delivering solutions that matter.
  • You’ll be recognised and rewarded through our URecognise program, peer shout-outs, milestone celebrations, and employee referral bonuses.
  • You’ll enjoy a culture that connects, with monthly events, cross-state socials, and a team that values innovation and problem-solving.
  • You’ll have access to wellbeing resources and the option of a 4- or 5-day week, with the stability of a national business behind you.
