5B is an Australian technology company transforming large scale solar through the 5B Maverick Solution, a prefabricated, high speed, structurally and materially efficient approach to solar farm deployment. Backed by 46 million dollars in ARENA funding, we are executing an ambitious research, development and product program to push the boundaries of PV system design.
We are seeking a Head of Electrical Solution Development to define and lead the electrical architecture at the heart of our next generation solar solutions.
The opportunity
Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, this highly visible role owns the electrical and PV system design across 5B’s prefabricated product suite. You will set product direction, challenge conventional industry approaches, and lead the development of standardised, modular DC balance of system and integrated power system solutions, from early concept through to large scale deployment.
This role balances strategy with hands-on engineering, working closely with customers, project teams, suppliers, and construction partners to ensure solutions are innovative, compliant, manufacturable, and deliver real world value.
What you will do
Own and evolve 5B’s electrical product architecture and PV system design
Lead development of standardised, prefabricated DC balance of system solutions for large scale solar
Shape end to end power system solutions integrating PV, power conversion, and battery energy storage
Drive next generation PV system concepts that redefine cost, speed, and constructability
Provide technical leadership in customer, project, and OEM engagements
About you
Degree in Electrical, PV or Renewable Energy Engineering
8+ years experience in electrical design of large scale or commercial solar projects (at least 5 years practicing in Australia)
Strong working knowledge of Australian electrical and PV standards
Strong product and systems mindset, with experience taking designs from concept to deployment
Comfortable operating across strategic direction and detailed engineering decisions
