As our business continues to expand, accurate and compliant payroll delivery across

complex workforce models is critical to both operational performance and employee

experience.

We are seeking a Senior UKG Payroll Specialist to lead payroll delivery, governance

and compliance across the organisation while ensuring our UKG payroll platform

supports modern award interpretation, system releases and scalable payroll

operations. This role combines hands-on payroll expertise with system capability and

governance leadership.

The Role

Reporting to the National Payroll Manager, you will play a critical role in ensuring the

accurate and compliant delivery of payroll across a multi-site workforce.

You will lead end-to-end payroll operations while ensuring that UKG system updates,

workforce changes and award interpretations are translated into robust payroll

processes and controls.

Working closely with the UKG Systems Administrator, you will assess payroll risk and

compliance implications for system releases, ensuring payroll capability remains

aligned to modern awards and workforce structures.

This role sits at the intersection of Payroll Operations, Workforce Management

Systems and Award Compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Payroll Operations & Delivery

In collaboration with the National Payroll Manager:

  • Lead end-to-end payroll processing across all pay cycles.
  • Ensure payroll is delivered accurately, on time and in compliance with legislation.
  • Maintain payroll calendars, workflows and operational governance.
  • Oversee payroll reconciliations, exception management and reporting.
  • Maintain strong payroll documentation, controls and audit trails.

Award Compliance & Payroll Governance

  • Ensure compliance with Australian payroll legislation and modern awards.
  • Provide payroll governance and interpretation across:
  • General Retail Industry Award.
  • Storage Services & Wholesale Award.
  • Road Transport & Distribution Award (Short Haul).
  • Manage superannuation, PAYG and statutory payroll obligations.
  • Lead payroll compliance reviews, audits and remediation where required.

UKG Payroll Systems FY27 Implementation & Release Alignment

  • Partner with the UKG Systems Administrator, and National Payroll Manager to
  • implement UKG as our new ERP platform for payroll, TLM and Scheduling
  • including system release governance.
  • Assess the payroll and award implications of UKG Ready system updates.
  • Translate system functionality into compliant payroll processes.
  • Support configuration, testing and validation of payroll functionality.
  • Maintain payroll system integrity, data quality and reporting accuracy.

Process Optimisation & Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve payroll efficiency and reduce manual
  • processing.
  • Drive payroll automation, standardisation and best practice processes.
  • Improve payroll reporting, auditability and operational insight.
  • Reduce payroll errors and operational risk through stronger system capability.

Leadership & Stakeholder Partnership

  • Support and mentor payroll team members to build capability and consistency
  • Partner with Finance, Operations and People & Culture team.
  • Provide payroll insights to support labour cost management and workforce planning.
  • Act as a trusted payroll SME across the business.

About You

You are an experienced payroll professional with deep expertise in complex award

environments and enterprise payroll systems.

You combine strong technical payroll knowledge with system capability, and you

understand how payroll systems, workforce management platforms and award

interpretation interact within operational environments.

You will bring:

  • Proven experience in senior payroll roles within multi-site organisations.
  • Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation and modern awards.
  • Experience using UKG Ready, Kronos or similar enterprise payroll platforms.
  • Strong understanding of payroll governance, controls and audit requirements.
  • Experience working with Time & Attendance and workforce management systems.
  • High attention to detail with a strong compliance mindset.
  • Payroll experience in retail, logistics, distribution or transport environments
  • Experience supporting complex workforce models and award interpretation
  • Experience working alongside workforce management or scheduling platforms
