We are looking for a skilled accountant to join the finance team and take on the accounts receivable and month end functions. Reporting to the CFO, you will be part of a small team focused on delivering to both internal and external customers.
Note:This is a fixed-term 40 hour role to cover parental leave Dec 2025 – July 2025.
This role covers a variety of tasks including, not limited to:
Financial Administration & Support
- Preparing end of month management accounts and journals
- Reconciling balance sheet accounts at each month end
- Reconciling of inter entity balances
Accounts Receivable & Credit Control
- Generating, processing, & dispatch of customer invoices
- Invoicing and liaising with customers, trade agents, sales and hospitality to resolve any queries & ensure prompt payment is made
- Reconcile daily sales from across the organisation to cash, Eftpos, and credit card transaction to bank statements
Inventory
- Monthly reconciliation of café and events inventory to general ledger
- Monitoring against benchmark percentages for cost of sales
- Training of retail and hospitality staff in best practice stock take procedures
Payroll (Back-Up)
- First level review of the payroll
- When the payroll accountant is away, preparing and processing the weekly payroll
- Verifying master file data in order to maintain and update payroll information
- Compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and non-taxable wages and reporting on this
- Completing all IRD filings in relation to payroll and ensuring compliance with legal obligations
- Preparing payroll journals
What you’ll need to be successful | Ō Pūkenga
- 4yrs+ proven experience and working knowledge of general accounting functions
- Accounts receivable and collections experience
- Strong organisational skills, including the ability to plan, set clear objectives and meet deadlines.
- Payroll experience including NZ employment law
- Experience in Xero or a similar accounting package
- Qualification as a chartered accountant or part qualified accountant preferred
- Experience in the tourism or culture and heritage sectors is desirable.
