About the Role

As a Children and Young People’s Practitioner (CYPP), you’ll play a key role in supporting children and young people experiencing family violence. Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, you’ll deliver trauma-informed, strength-based case management and advocacy that empowers families to achieve safety and stability.

You’ll:

  • Provide direct case management for children and young people in refuge and crisis accommodation whilst working with a key case manager / mum’s case manager.
  • Conduct comprehensive MARAM risk assessments, safety and needs planning, and coordinate referrals to specialist services.
  • Supporting engagement with education, health, and wellbeing supports.
  • Building strong, trusting relationships with children and young people to promote safety, resilience, and positive development.
  • Working collaboratively with parents, carers, and external agencies to achieve meaningful outcomes.

About You

You’re passionate about making a difference for children and families impacted by family violence. You bring empathy, professionalism, and resilience to your work and thrive in a supportive, collaborative environment.

Essential:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Youth Work, Social Sciences or a relevant social work discipline.
  • At least 3 years experience as a Case Manager, ideally working with children and young people experiencing trauma.
  • Excellent relationship-building and communication skills to engage and empower clients.
  • A sound understanding of trauma-informed and strength-based practice frameworks.
  • Significant cultural or lived experience and a commitment to ongoing learning.
  • Strong understanding of family violence frameworks, child development, and trauma-informed practice.
  • Experience in case management, advocacy, and interagency collaboration.
  • Victorian Drivers Licence

Desirable:

  • Experience in the family violence sector.
  • Knowledge of the MARAM Framework.

Refuge Victoria is a not-for-profit Specialist Family Violence Organisation that provides refuge accommodation to women and children escaping family violence. We have been responding to family violence and changing people’s stories for over 40 years. Refuge Victoria is the largest provider of refuge accommodation in Victoria with three core and cluster refuges, 15 refuge properties and nominating rights to approx. 35 Transitional Houses.

Refuge Victoria supports women and children experiencing homelessness from family violence, providing refuge and crisis accommodation, risk assessment and case management support and outreach case management support to clients in transitional properties and/or private rental.
