About the Role
We’re looking for a scrappy, hands-on Mechanical Engineering student or recent graduate to jump straight into prototyping and testing. This is not a sit-back-and-watch role — you’ll be on the tools building rigs, troubleshooting experiments, and making things work under pressure. If you like getting your hands dirty, solving problems with whatever materials are on hand, and learning fast, this is for you.
What You’ll Do
• Design and assemble test setups for thermal characterisation using thermocouples, heaters, and data acquisition systems.
• Execute thermal and fluid testing to collect temperature, flow rate, and pressure data under varying conditions.
• Build and validate water-cooled thermal management solutions, including custom blocks, loops, and heat exchangers.
• Maintain and operate cooling infrastructure (pumps, reservoirs, plumbing, fittings, sensors) with leak and performance testing.
• Rapidly prototype fixtures and assemblies for component and system-level validation (3D printing, machining, assembly).
• Document procedures, results, and design learnings to inform engineering recommendations.
What We’re Looking For
• Currently studying Mechanical Engineering (undergraduate/postgraduate) or a recent graduate.
• Practical experience with prototyping and fabrication techniques.
• Basic knowledge of heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and thermodynamics.
• Familiarity with setting up instrumentation and collecting experimental data.
• Proficiency with CAD software (SolidWorks or Onshape preferred).
• Enthusiastic, resourceful, and comfortable working in a fast-moving, iterative development environment.
Commitment
Casual engagement of 2–3 days per week, with flexibility to balance study and work. This role offers the opportunity to gain industry experience, contribute to meaningful projects, and potentially extend into future involvement with the team.
