What’s inside?

The AI skills assessment template is a structured one-on-one template that both you and your employee complete before sitting down together. It covers five areas that matter across most roles:

• Foundational understanding: Does your employee have an accurate picture of what AI can and can’t do? Are they clear on your data privacy rules?
• Prompting quality: Can they get genuinely useful outputs or are they stuck copy-pasting vague questions and hoping for the best?
• Critical evaluation: Do they sense-check what the model gives them or is AI-generated content going straight to clients unreviewed?
• Workflow integration: Have they found the recurring tasks where AI saves them time or is it still occasional and ad hoc?
• Responsible use: Do they know when to disclose AI use and how to take ownership of the outputs, errors included?

Each skill has a 1–4 rating scale with space for you and your employee to score independently, plus a notes column for examples. The gap between the two scores is where the most useful conversations happen and where you’ll learn the most about how to support them.
