Heavy Vehicle Mechanic

The Company

TMC Trailers is one of NZ’s largest heavy transport manufacturers, specialising in manufacturing, repairing, and servicing truck trailers from workshops in Auckland, Hamilton, and Christchurch.

We have been in operation since 1948, employ more than 80 staff across New Zealand and are family-owned and operated.

The Role

We have a permanent full-time position for a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic at our Hamilton Service Centre facility in Horotiu.

A busy and rewarding role where no two days are the same, working on trucks and trailers of all makes and models. Being the only mechanic on site, you will be calm, professional, highly organised, and have an excellent eye for detail. The ability to work autonomously is essential.

Key tasks and responsibilities:

Complete repairs and maintenance on trucks and trailers of all makes and models.

Diagnose and repair faults identified by the inspections team.

Routine vehicle servicing to identify and advise of any required repairs or maintenance.

Complete required documentation, such as service worksheets and job cards.

Ensure adherence to all relevant Health Safety policies and report any issues/incidents to the Supervisor.

Workdays are between Monday and Friday, with 40 hours per week guaranteed/minimum with overtime available.

The remuneration package depends on experience, but we will pay an above-market wage rate and medical insurance.

To be successful, you will have the following:

The ability to work unsupervised confidently.

Class 1 clean driver’s license (HT license would be preferred)

Be physically fit.

Be punctual and reliable.

Level 4 relevant NZ recognised qualification.

Three years relevant work experience post qualification.
