UK-based position, able to travel to London once or twice a week, co-working space in Covent Garden
About us
The Climate Risk Group is a company committed to quantifying and communicating the costs of climate change. Our mission is to influence decision-makers – large and small – towards action that directs global capital away from climate change-related activities and towards a net-zero carbon, high-resilience economy.
With 50 team members across Australia and Europe, the Climate Risk Group brings together XDI, with its finance and business focus, and Climate Valuation, which provides household-level insights into the costs of climate change. Together, our work leverages physical climate risk data, influence with global financial players, and grassroots momentum to create a compelling case for change.
Our European client base has grown rapidly over the past 3 years through a network of resellers and direct client relationships. In early 2023, we established our first European office in London, providing a home for our team members based in Spain and the UK.
The Role
In this newly created role of Head of UK Commercial and Operations, you will lead the development of our commercial strategy in Europe, and drive team performance and engagement within our regional team by providing both internal and external leadership through several key areas, including people and team leadership, strategy execution and analysis.
For our clients and partners, including management advisory, data providers, and risk and sustainability consultants, you will help them understand our services and customer-focused packages of SaaS, consulting, and hybrid solutions. Working with our Global Head of Commercial & Partnerships and C-suite to understand the market(s) that The Climate Risk Group / XDI’s products exist in and develop a clear understanding of customer opportunities and problems to be solved.
For our team members, including Customer Success Managers, Business Development and Data Product Specialists, you will provide people leadership, supporting team members’ growth by identifying the intersection between their interests and the needs of the organisation. Critically, you will support, coach, mentor and guide them, regularly checking in to nurture engagement and wellbeing, cultivating a strong team culture and fostering individual growth among team members.
For our organisation, while still hands-on with the many new business development and sales activities, you will be responsible for driving new partnerships and client acquisition across sectors and contributing to its growth. You will contribute to our commercial strategy and financial ambitions by ensuring that strategic initiatives are effectively implemented and aligned with our organisational goals. You will provide insightful input into strategic planning and offer constructive feedback to refine these strategies for better market alignment. You will also conduct thorough assessments of the sales pipeline and commercial team operational capacity to balance incoming demand with what teams can sustainably supply. As you develop an understanding of our profit and loss dynamics, you will ensure that financial implications are factored into strategic and operational decisions, leveraging data-driven insights to inform our sales approaches and decision-making processes.
