We’re seeking a highly capable Technical Accountant to join our finance team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in technical detail, enjoys process improvement, and is passionate about supporting purpose-driven organisations in the not-for-profit sector.

About the Role
This role sits within our internal finance team and is responsible for delivering accurate, compliant, and timely financial work across a range of technical areas. You will take ownership of key compliance processes and contribute to a robust and well-documented finance function.
Key Responsibilities
- Month-End Close: Lead and finalise end-to-end month-end processes including reconciliations, journals, and accruals.
- Fringe Benefits Tax: Draft and prepare FBT lodgement in accordance with applicable legislation.
- Audit Pack Preparation: Coordinate and compile audit documentation and working papers.
- GST and Compliance: Prepare BAS workpapers and ensure correct treatment in line with NFP GST requirements.
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement improvements to templates, processes and documentation standards.
- Internal Collaboration: Work closely with senior finance staff to maintain accurate financial records and prepare for external review or audit.
About You
Experience: At least 3 years of accounting experience, including a minimum of 1 year within the not-for-profit sector.
Education: Actively pursuing or completed CA or CPA qualification.
Technical Strength:
- Demonstrated experience in full month-end closure cycles.
- Proficient in drafting FBT returns and audit-ready financial documentation.
- Strong working knowledge of GST obligations, particularly for NFPs.
Skills:
- Detail-oriented and methodical.
- Excellent time management and organisational skills.
- Strong written communication skills, especially in documentation and reporting.
- Systems: Experience with cloud-based accounting platforms such as Xero or MYOB, and familiarity with workflow tools such as ClickUp, or similar.
