Position Overview:

Are you passionate about games and obsessed with quality? We’re on the hunt for a talented DevOps Engineer to join our vibrant game development team! In this pivotal role, you’ll be at the forefront of ensuring our players have an exceptional, bug-free experience. You’ll collaborate closely with our developers, designers, and fellow QAs, diving deep into our game’s mechanics, systems, and content. If you’re a proactive problem-solver with a knack for automation and a deep understanding of game development pipelines, you’ll thrive here, helping us deliver truly innovative and high-performance titles.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Developing comprehensive test plans for game features and systems, covering functional, performance, and stability aspects.
  • Writing and managing automation scripts (using languages like Python, PowerShell, Batch, or Bash) to streamline testing processes for game features, services, and pipelines.
  • Collaborating with our build team (familiarity with TeamCity/Kotlin is a plus) to integrate QA processes directly into our continuous integration/delivery pipelines. This includes ensuring our Perforce streams are set up for optimal testing and game server pipelines are robust.
  • Identifying needs and creating tools to enhance our testing efficiency and overall quality assurance efforts.
  • Investigating bugs, identifying root causes, and providing detailed, actionable reports to development teams, helping to improve game stability and performance.
  • Setting up and utilizing tools to track key performance indicators and identify potential bottlenecks or issues in live or development environments.
  • Working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure clear communication around quality goals, risks, and progress.
  • Advocating for best practices in testing and development, participating in code reviews, and helping to mentor team members on QA principles.

What You Bring to the Table:

  • 4+ years of professional experience in QA or software engineering for games.
  • Hands-on experience with Unreal Engine is a must, allowing you to debug, analyze, and test directly within the game.
  • Solid working knowledge of Perforce for source control management is essential.
  • Proven ability to write and maintain automation scripts using languages like Python, PowerShell, Batch, or Bash.
  • A good grasp of general networking and API integration, including the ability to set up and document a new web service for the team.
  • Good understanding of how Perforce stream setup, working with build teams (ideally TeamCity/Kotlin), and pipelines for running game servers all contribute to a smooth development and testing process.
  • Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail and an analytical approach to complex issues.
  • Strong ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
  • Proactive, able to manage your own time effectively, take ownership of technical areas, and adapt to evolving project needs.
  • A passion for continuous learning, staying updated with industry trends, and driving improvements in QA processes and tooling.
