Ngwala Willumbong Aboriginal Corporation is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation that is dedicated to delivering quality specialist Alcohol and Drug Treatment, Housing and Homeless and other services to meet the needs of Aboriginal people and their families. These services operate in greater metropolitan Melbourne and Mooroopna in rural Victoria.

About the job

Working at Yitjawudik Residential Rehabilitation Centre in Mooroopna, you will join a team of experienced workers to work with our male clients who are affected by alcohol and other drug (AOD) misuse. Within a safe and culturally appropriate environment, you will support the delivery of a range of program activities to help clients overcome their substance abuse.

You will undertake assessments of clients, support the delivery of programs, facilitate client outings and appointments, undertake case management tasks including advocacy and referrals, conduct screening and supervise medication, maintain data records as well as support the smooth running of the facility.

We currently have 2 positions available:

1 x Full time position – Monday to Friday

1 x Part Time Position – Saturday & Sunday (7pm – 7am)

About You

You will be passionate and committed about supporting members of the Aboriginal community to make a real difference to the lives of Ngwala clients. You will have strong knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and of the issues associated with AOD and their effects on the Aboriginal community.

Ideally, you will have a Cert IV in AOD, or a willingness to obtain. You will be an excellent team member, who can work independently with good organizational and time management skills. Previous experience working to support people with AOD issues or similar will be well regarded
