Expression Australia is on the lookout for a dynamic and experienced
Manager Interpreting Services to lead our national interpreting team and support our mission of empowering Deaf and hard-of-hearing communities.
About the role:
As the Manager of our Interpreting Services team, you’ll play a vital leadership role in overseeing high-quality delivery of Auslan interpreting, Deaf interpreting, live captioning, and notetaking services. You’ll work closely with our internal and external stakeholders to ensure our services exceed expectations, while supporting a talented team of interpreters and notetakers across the country.

Key responsibilities:
• Lead and support a national interpreting team, including full-time, part-time, and casual staff
• Deliver high-quality interpreting services aligned with best practice and client expectations
• Manage stakeholder relationships across government, corporate, and community sectors
• Oversee contract performance, reporting, compliance, and financial management
• Design, develop, and implement new services that align with organisational goals
• Drive continuous improvement and foster a high-performance, inclusive team culture
What we’re looking for:
• Fluency in Auslan (essential)
• Strong leadership experience in service delivery, ideally within language or community services
• Excellent stakeholder and relationship management skills
• Background in budget management and financial planning
• Interpreting qualifications and knowledge of the Deaf community (desirable)
• Familiarity with NDIS and ISO quality frameworks (advantageous)
• Passion for inclusion, accessibility, and social impact
