Working closely with the CEO, the Senior Philanthropy Manager leads all aspects of Bundanon’s development and fundraising efforts. The role has a strong focus on driving philanthropic income in the short term through targeted fundraising strategies and securing financial support for key programs and projects.

ABOUT THE ROLE
The Senior Philanthropy Manager is integral to Bundanon’s mission and organisation development, leading strategic initiatives in fundraising, philanthropy, and stakeholder engagement. Responsible for building comprehensive development programs that ensure the organisation’s financial well-being, this role includes formulating and executing fundraising strategies, managing benefaction programs, and cultivating relationships with sponsors, partners, and a range of stakeholders. Supporting a robust culture of philanthropy within Bundanon’s community, communicating needs and securing vital funding from external parties that support internal projects and contribute to Bundanon’s long-term success. Internal collaboration is crucial to align development efforts with organisational priorities and ensure that accurate and compelling reporting on program impact and effectiveness informs key stakeholders, including the CEO and Board and attracts external support. Continuing to develop a high performing, dynamic and engaged team, this role is expected to model the professional behaviours of Bundanon’s senior management.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Philanthropy
- Manage benefaction programs such as Bundanon Patrons, bequests, and annual giving campaigns.
- Drive a measurable increase in philanthropic income over the short term, with a strategic focus on major gifts, corporate partnerships, and capital or project-based contributions.
- Act as a key contact for individual giving, including trusts and foundations, providing updates and reports as required.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with Bundanon’s Patrons and supporters through events and communication initiatives.
- Lead communications that inform, acknowledge, and nurture relationships with benefactors, donors, and supporters.
- Maintain detailed and up-to-date records in Bundanon’s CRM, and other relevant systems.
- Support the CEO, Board and Executive to secure major gifts.
Bequests
- Expand and nurture Bundanon’s bequest program.
- Cultivate and monitor bequest giving.
- Lead reporting & analysis of the bequest program, identifying key trends and areas of improvement.
Sponsors and Partners
- Research potential sponsorship, partnership, and funding opportunities contributing to Bundanon’s growth.
- Manage relationships with sponsoring partners.
- Develop strategies for securing corporate sponsorship and in-kind support, collaborating with other Departmental Heads as needed.
- Ensure delivery and sustainability of programs, prepare quotes and proposals for potential and existing partners, ensuring compliance.
Stakeholder and Project Management
- Provide reports for the CEO, Board, and other stakeholders to articulate Bundanon programs and their effectiveness.
- Establish and maintain relationships with relevant internal and external stakeholders.
- Serve as a key contact where appropriate.
- Represent and advocate for Bundanon in relevant forums.
- Develop communication tools aimed at building support for Bundanon.
- Utilise Bundanon’s CRM/database to capture and share up-to-date information.
Strategy Execution
- Contribute to the achievement of the Corporate Plan as part of the Leadership Team.
- Communicate ongoing initiatives so they are clear, meaningful and inspiring.
- Review processes,set priorities, monitor progress, remove obstacles and ensure the sustainability of planned work.
- Collaborate with Senior Leaders and staff to align fundraising and development programs with organisational priorities.
Financial Management
- Maintain income targets and monitor budgets.
- Handle funds in accordance with legal guidelines and tax provisions.
- Fulfill funding acquittals as required.
- Identify areas of opportunity to drive efficiencies, reduce cost and drive improvements.
- Regularly analyse data and generate insights specific to the performance of key campaigns.
SELECTION CRITERIA
- Minimum 5 years experience in fundraising and philanthropic development within the arts, cultural or not-for-profit sectors
- Demonstrated success in securing major philanthropic gifts, sponsorships, or capital contributions from individuals, foundations, and corporate partners
- Proven experience developing and executing philanthropy & fundraising strategies across major gifts, bequests, annual giving, and corporate partnerships
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships and influence stakeholders including donors, partners, board members and senior leaders
- Strong project management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, deliver acquittals and reports, and maintain accurate records using CRM systems.
