About the opportunity

As Australia’s newest uranium producer, we’re growing and looking for an experienced Hydrogeologist to join the Wellfields team in a newly created position.

Based at the Honeymoon mine in South Australia and reporting to the Senior Hydrogeologist, you’ll provide technical input and data analytics to develop and operate uranium leaching wellfields while assisting with regulatory compliance.

This is a unique opportunity for a hydrogeologist to play an integral part in mine production.

We’re a small team and work with many departments across the business; your abilities to build positive relationships and collaborate are essential. Being flexible and solutions focused, combined with a hands-on approach and willingness to undertake field work will be important for your success.

The role will be FIFO from the Adelaide charter terminal direct to site on an 8:6 roster.

In terms of specific responsibilities, you will:

  • Help manage the process of wellfield installation, commissioning, pre-conditioning and mining.
  • Track and help optimise the performance/efficiency of pre-conditioning and mining.
  • Help manage the process of groundwater water supply, water treatment and liquid waste disposal.
  • Assist in hydrogeological evaluation of future areas (i.e. in EK or BD) and other orebodies (Jason’s, Gould’s Dam)
  • Provide hydrogeological input to environmental reporting and permitting requirements.
  • Undertake hydrogeological field work including pumping tests.
  • Assist with production forecasting, reagent usage and optimisation.
  • Support wellfield operators in the field with wellfield operation.

About You

What you’ll need:

  • A tertiary degree or higher in Hydrogeology, Geology or Petroleum Engineering.
  • Solid experience in a similar role, in a mining or consulting environment.
  • High level proficiency with the MS Office suite, particularly Excel.
  • Familiarity with GIS (preferably QGIS)
  • An aptitude for data analysis and systematic, structured, workflows.
  • The ability to work well in a team and independently,
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • A strong focus on and commitment to, working safely.

While not essential, experience in groundwater modelling experience and/or In-situ leaching (ISL) will be highly regarded.
