The Opportunity:

We are seeking a Structural Design Drafter to join our Sydney team of approximately 40 based in our CBD office located very close to multiple transport modes. This role provides an opportunity to join our high performing team and work with other Designers including Senior and Principal Designers who are leaders in their areas of expertise.

Who You Are:

  • A passionate and proactive team player with excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • A technical problem-solver with demonstrated experience in a range of structural projects.
  • Enthusiastic about working in multi-disciplinary teams in a national team format.

Relevant qualifications:

  • 6-10 years of professional experience (inclusive of any apprenticeship or traineeship) in structural modelling and drafting, ideally within a consulting environment.
  • Demonstrated experience using software such as Revit and AutoCAD on a range of small and medium size projects.
  • Demonstrated progressing technical background in the modelling and drafting of structures including: Concrete framed buildings; Reinforced concrete structures; Steel framed buildings; Retaining structures
  • Experience with relevant Australian Standards, Industry Design Guidelines
  • Efficient multi-tasker with a fundamental understanding of project delivery processes.

Bonus Points:

  • Experience drafting post-tensioned designs
  • Ability to communicate complex engineering concepts clearly and concisely to diverse audiences.

What You’ll Do:

  • Apply your technical expertise to the design of a range of structural projects, ensuring compliance with all applicable standards and regulations
  • Provide inputs to other engineers and drafters in producing high-quality deliverables.
  • Collaborate seamlessly with other disciplines and consultants to ensure project coordination.
  • Deliver well-documented designs, including drawings and models meeting Tonkin’s and client standards.
