The Role

As Head of Para Sport System & Partnerships, you will lead PA’s national initiatives that strengthen governance, delivery and integration across Australia’s para-sport system. You’ll unite government, NSOs, schools, allied health and community partners to deliver measurable outcomes. This role can be based in either Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne offices.

You will oversee PA’s programs including the National Classification System, Supercharged Pathways and the Para Equipment Fund, managing budgets, timelines, risks and reporting to ensure impact for athletes and the wider system. You’ll align work with the 2032+ High Performance Sport Strategy and embed robust monitoring and evaluation.

This executive role can be based in either Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne offices but will require work outside standard hours and travel interstate travel.

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead national initiatives to strengthen system governance, delivery and integration with clear scope, milestones and outcomes.
  • Build high-trust partnerships across government, sport, health, education and community, with clear accountability and measurable results.
  • Deliver PA’s system-uplift agenda (Classification, Supercharged Pathways, Equipment Fund) with strong financial, risk and reporting controls.
  • Ensure alignment with the 2032+ strategy; embed monitoring, evaluation and continuous improvement.
  • Champion an inclusive, high-performance culture across PA and partners.

About You

You will be a strategic, values-driven leader with demonstrated experience in sport, health, government, or other complex systems. You combine strategic leadership with strong project and program management expertise to deliver meaningful, lasting impact. You bring:

  • Senior experience in sport, health, government or other complex systems.
  • Proven record leading large, multi-stakeholder programs from design to delivery with measurable impact.
  • Strong governance, strategy and risk acumen; able to embed project/program disciplines.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement; confident, diplomatic and structured communicator.
  • Inclusive leader who builds psychologically safe, high-performing teams; systems mindset and passion for para-sport and social inclusion.

Skills & Experience

To succeed in this role, you will demonstrate:

  • Tertiary qualifications in sport management, health, business, public administration or related field.
  • Formal project/program management training/accreditation or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated management of budgets, timelines, risks and multi-year reporting frameworks.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication for executive, board and government audiences.
