Introducing Advanced Goals by Employment Hero

Did you know that there’s a practical way to align the output of everyone in your company to one big ambitious goal? That keeps track of performance, improves visibility and promotes accountability?

It’s all possible with Employment Hero’s new Goals module.

What do I need to know?

Goals are the latest way that Employment Hero is helping Australian businesses reach their potential. Using an OKR framework (Objectives and Key Results), Goals help businesses articulate, communicate and achieve their goals by aligning each and every employee with what the company wants to achieve in the future.

By using SMART (scalable, measurable, achievable, realistic and timely) goals, businesses can align their teams like never before. Ensure accountability from the top down and show employees how their efforts actively contribute to the success of the company. This all contributes to improving employee engagement.

How do they work?

Employers can now measure the output and productivity of their teams using a scalable and transparent methodology used by some of the world’s most successful companies, including Google, LinkedIn, Amazon, Facebook and more.

If you haven’t heard of OKRs before, familiarise yourself with them here.

What do I need to do?

Once you have your objectives and key results ready to go, administrators and account owners with a Platinum subscription can enable Goals. Go to ‘Goals’ in the menu on the left-hand side of the screen and click ‘Add goal’.

Name the goal or objective, choose who owns it (objective), when it’s due, identify any other goals it’s aligned with and which team it belongs to.

  1. After you create the objective, select ‘Add Key Result’. In the pop-up, you can add the title of the key result, the owner, the due date, the metrics you’ll use to track it and any collaborators. Key results are measured either using a percentage or dollar amount, a numerical value, or a binary ‘Completed/Didn’t Complete’ metric. Objective owners must also articulate what the baseline and target for their objective. Continue to add key results as needed but remember – objectives should only have three to five key results.
  2. Objective owners can then update the key results as they need to.

What else?

Existing within Employment Hero’s cloud-based HR platform, employers can ensure each and every employee is able to identify their goals and visualise their impact on the entire company. This helps everyone to be more productive and engaged. Goals are available on Platinum subscriptions only.
