Description

Aurora Expeditions is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to ensure the smooth delivery of our Polar Expedition, Discovery Expedition, and Small Ship Cruise programs. This key leadership role is central to maintaining our reputation for seamless, safe, and sustainable voyages. You’ll work across operational readiness, permitting, feasibility planning, and asset procurement—balancing strategic oversight with on-the-ground realities. You’ll be a critical link between our product design, expedition teams, and ship operations—bringing adventure to life with precision, care, and purpose.

What You’ll Do

  • Operational Planning & Feasibility: Collaborate with the Product team to assess the viability of new destinations and itineraries, ensuring safe and logistically sound experiences.
  • Permitting & Compliance: Manage complex permitting processes across global regions—liaising with government bodies, traditional owners, and environmental agencies.
  • Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs): Develop and maintain SOPs and operational frameworks that support scalable and consistent delivery.
  • Asset Management & Procurement: Lead equipment and logistics planning across vessels, supporting multiple voyages with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Team & Budget Leadership: Coach and lead a small team, manage functional budgets, and align operations with strategic and cultural goals.
  • Sustainability in Action: Bring Aurora’s B Corp values to life through environmentally responsible practices in operations and procurement.

What You’ll Bring

  • 5+ years in a senior operations or expedition logistics leadership role
  • Expertise in regulatory compliance, permit navigation, and stakeholder management
  • Strong knowledge of expedition cruise operations (especially polar regions is a bonus!)
  • High-level communication, leadership, and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Experience managing budgets and teams
  • Adaptability to thrive in a fast-paced, change-driven environment
  • A degree in Business, Operations, or related discipline (desirable)
  • A passion for sustainability, cultural sensitivity, and adventure travel
