St Joseph Affordable Homes (SJAH) is an innovative building and construction organisation that aims to alleviate housing stress and homelessness through building affordable housing as well as provide training and employment opportunities for young people. We are looking for a fulltime Qualified Senior Carpenter to join our team.

The Role

• Ensuring carpentry projects are completed within pre-agreed programs, within budget, to the highest quality standards on numerous projects

• Responsibility and supervision of a number of qualified trades and Carpentry Apprentices

• Work closely with the Wellbeing Coaching team to support each apprentice to succeed

• Promote and instil Work, Health and Safety culture throughout each and every project.

• Provide and prioritise effective leadership, mentoring and training to our in-house apprentices.

What you bring to the role

• Minimum 5 years’ experience as a qualified Site foreman and/or Senior carpenter within the residential construction industry.

• Experience in mentoring and supporting trainees, labourers and/or apprentices in the completion of their work (desirable)

• Understanding of the legislation and regulations that apply to this organisation; including the WHS Act, WHS Regulation, WHS Codes of Practice and the Building Code of Australia

• Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills.

• Proven ability to plan, prioritise and meet deadlines

• Ability and willingness to undertake the relevant employee screening process, including the provision of a National Police Criminal History check and Working with Vulnerable People Registration

• A current unrestricted Drivers Licence.
