About the role

We have a new opportunity in our Naracoorte office for a passionate and engaging Accountant with Public Practice experience with client contact skills. You will be expected to be confident and able to prepare and complete financial statements, tax returns, activity statements and financial reports for all business types in a timely manner. You will have the experience and desire to mentor and coach junior team members so that they can grow and thrive professionally within our firm and industry. You will possess a mindset is to fit in and be part of a cohesive team who provide timely quality advice and outcomes for our growing client base. You will be given reachable targets with emphasis on working reasonable hours and you will be able to access all of the Directors and Senior Accountants within our firm to mentor and help you further develop or improve your skill sets.

Key Responsibilities

• Preparation of financial statements and tax returns for individuals, companies, partnerships, and trusts

• Liaise with the ATO on behalf of clients

• Contribute to client interaction and advisory

• Advise business owners and individuals in relation to tax legislation

• Be able to identify, areas of opportunity such as business planning, business/tax structuring, benchmarking/profit improvement

• Detect and address potential compliance issues proactively

• Conduct individual salary and wage interviews and complete Tax Return during client appointments

• Contribute knowledge and experience to the efficiency of Murray Nankivell’s internal operating systems

About you

Skills and experience

You will possess or be able to evidence most or all the following selection criteria.

Essential

Technical Expertise

• Hold an Accounting Degree qualification

• Proven Australian experience in a Public Practice Accounting firm Knowledge and Skill

• Strong understanding of accounting, compliance, and tax, including income tax, CGT, FBT, and GST

• Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, managing time to consistently meet deadlines

• High proficiency with Accounting software packages

• Be a Xero Certified Advisor

• Hold or are working towards a CA or CPA certification
