We’re looking for an experienced engineer to join our Brisbane team responsible for driving and delivering safe and sustainable engineering outcomes across EPC projects.
Responsibilities
- Deliver discipline specific engineering services that meet Long Energy’s, the client’s and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Undertake and/or support engineering design and technical verification of discipline project deliverables.
- Proactively seek an understanding of the safety hazards and risks associated with the asset lifecycle of the designed product, plant or structure; be responsible for action and close out where relevant.
Perform and/or manage discipline specific engineering services such as:
• Defining the Electrical scope of projects, designing technical solutions, and leading project / design teams to deliver those solutions;
• Prepare and as required oversee the production of engineering calculations, drawings and documentation;
• Undertake design and lead activities in accordance with quality assurance company standards and processes to ensure correct engineering process is followed;
• Oversee project design, implementation and commissioning of engineering projects as required by project or client;
• Mentor and provide technical guidance and support to projects and clients;
• Participate in (or lead) project reviews, design reviews, HAZIDs/HAZOPs, LOPA and/or other studies/reviews;
• Attend site visits as required;
• Meet with clients to understand their needs and to build and maintain strong client relationships;
• Scoping, clarifications and detail assumptions, exclusions and develop deliverables list/s;
• Input into engineering estimates for the electrical discipline in response to requests for quotation or change notices;
• Input into the schedule incorporating a realistic delivery sequence for the discipline with consideration to project milestones;
• Report progress of discipline deliverables, resolve discipline technical issues;
• Encourage innovation within the team to increase project efficiency and effectiveness;
• Promote a culture of safety within the team and throughout the project lifecycle; and
• Communicate effectively and regularly with the project stakeholders working within a multidisciplinary team.
Requirements
- An Australian recognised Bachelor qualification in the relevant discipline and extensive experience as a professional engineer in heavy industry.
- Strong and proven technical skillset as a Senior/Principal Engineer on detailed design projects and must have ability to work across multiple work fronts.
- Ability to work within a team and autonomously.
- Experience across all phases of engineering projects from feasibility/conceptual studies through to detailed design and execution (desirable).
Strong understanding and experience during different phases of engineering design such as Feasibility, Pre-FEED, FEED and detailed design including the following tasks, skills and competencies:
• HV and LV systems, AC and DC systems, Power distribution, Motor Control (MCC), electrical calculations required for design and equipment sizing
• Earthing systems and step and touch potential calculations, earthing, arc flash and lightning studies and design
• Power system studies (inc. load flow, fault level voltage and motor starting analysis) and protection coordination
• Creation of design documentation and drawings such as datasheets, SLDs, schematics, terminations, schedules, layouts
• Site experience such as scoping solutions, condition assessments, construction and commissioning
• Very good understanding of constructability, maintainability and operability aspects
• Very good understanding of engineering processes and quality management systems
• Equipment inspections, witnessing FATs, SATs, preparing ITPs, MTOs, datasheets, specifications, construction methodologies, philosophy documents, procurement and construction scope of works
• Input into electrical estimates and execution schedules for FID, control system interfacing and instrumentation and Shutdown planning
• Registered Professional Engineer within Queensland/Victoria or Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status.
• Hazardous Area Classification & Design Accreditation (highly desirable).
