Hardie Grant is an Australian-owned independent publishing and media business working with authors and clients to create high-quality books, magazines, websites and content across multiple platforms.
We are seeking a part-time (4 days per week) Accounts Payable & Receivable Officer to join our Finance team, initially on a 6-month contract basis. Reporting to the Finance Director, this position is responsible for working across both our media and publishing divisions to effectively manage and optimise the accounts receivable processes, ensuring:
- Accurate invoicing and payments
- Timely debt collection
- Timely processing of invoices and credit cards, and
- Proper reconciliation of financial records.
Key Responsibilities of the position are to:
• Process and verify invoices, purchase orders, and payment requests accurately and efficiently.
• Maintain accurate records of accounts payable and receivable transactions.
• Reconcile discrepancies and resolve any billing or payment issues
• Prepare and distribute invoices to customers promptly.
• Monitor and follow up on outstanding payments and collections (overseeing debt collection and agencies where necessary)
• Collaborate with internal teams to resolve any billing or payment discrepancies.
• Assist in month-end closing activities, including preparing weekly reports on debtor status
• Stay updated on industry regulations and best practices related to accounts payable and receivable.
• Provide exceptional customer service to internal and external stakeholders and vendors.
• Assist with ad-hoc financial projects and tasks as assigned.
Our ideal candidate will possess effective communication and interpersonal skills and is able to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. Other things we’re looking for:
• A minimum of 2-3 years experience in accounts payable and accounts receivable function
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Proficiency in using accounting software and MS Office Suite (Saage Intaact has been recently implemented)
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines
• An interest in driving process improvements and adaptable approach to new systems.

This is a part- time (4 days per week) six-month contract position to start, based in our new, state-of-the-art office in Collingwood. The salary for this position is in the range of $65,000 – $70,000 + superannuation pro rata (0.8).
