The German International School Sydney (GISS) is seeking a passionate and innovative After School and Vacation Care (ASC&VC) coordinator who is committed to providing an excellent education for primary aged students (K-6). This role will start as soon as possible, and it is classified as a permanent part-time position during term-time (25-30 hours a week, 43 weeks a year). It is a small community service running as part of GISS providing After School Care (Mon-Fri till 6 pm), Vacation Care (four weeks a year). The service is licenced for 30 children and is located in a dedicated space within the school.
The successful applicant will demonstrate highly developed communication skills, a commitment to relationship, community, and collaborative practice. They will also need to be skilled in creating dynamic learning experiences and maintaining a positive, nurturing environment.
They will be confident to deliver a rich, stimulating learning environment. They will possess excellent management and leadership skills in running the After School and Vacation Care service at the School.
They will actively support the vision and values of the School and embrace the culture of a multilingual community in an inclusive, non-selective school.
Selection Criteria
The successful candidate will possess the following:
• High social and emotional intelligence, and a commitment to relationship and collaborative practice.
• A passion for and understanding of educating students with multilingual backgrounds.
• Ability to solve problems, set priorities, support others, show initiative and be flexible in co-managing your own team, and supervising the children.
• Commitment to high professional standards and ethical behaviour.
• A relevant qualification in education, early childhood, or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience and knowledge in OSHC leadership roles.
• Experience in planning, delivering, and evaluating programs for children aged 5 to 12 years in a care or education setting
• Firm knowledge of My Time, Our Place and National Quality Frameworks.
• Strong oral communication skills, ideally in both English and German.
• Working knowledge of work health and safety legislation and child protection requirements.
