The role:

As Dry Goods Procurement and Inventory Controller, you will be responsible for:

  • The end to end procure to pay process providing high-level advice and support across our department, ensuring the best approach for simple procurement and contract activities.
  • Supplier arrangements and contracts.
  • Requests for information and tender.
  • Key contact between the business and supply partners.
  • Supplier relationship management.
  • Overseeing and optimising our inventory management processes.
  • Maintaining optimum inventory levels.
  • Implementing effective inventory control strategies.

Key Tasks:

  • Manage the various categories of suppliers in the vendor Masterfile.
  • Maintain and manage supplier databases and interface with ERP including raising and monitoring purchase orders.
  • Assist and manage in the sourcing of new products (through tendering and quoting) strictly adhering to the required specification and cost implications, through to supplier vetting and selection.
  • Prepare and report on daily, weekly and monthly reports.
  • Identify areas for improvement to continually drive performance and business results.
  • Implement improvement processes and systems to optimise inventory, minimise costs and maximise working capital.
  • Manage the effective demand planning for packaging and material stocks through the input into the Supply Chain team.
  • Ensure an effective packaging approval system is maintained enabling a right first-time approach to retailer packaging & label approvals.
  • Manage and maintain the company’s material and stocked product inventory including stock profiles and stock locations.
  • Ensure that goods inward / stock control department is well organised and controlled to sufficiently support production and the goals of the business.
  • Create and implement procurement plans & tactics that are innovative, cost-effective, and incorporate the growing complexities and challenges within industry.

Skills and Experience:

  • Tertiary qualifications or background experience in inventory management, procurement and procure to pay processes(preferred).
  • Supplier category, negotiation and relationship management.
  • Demonstrable skills, knowledge and relevant experience of supplier relationships, purchasing and managing dry goods areas.
  • Experience in CHEP pallet control systems (Ideal).
  • Possess the ability to work productively, efficiently & effectively with initiative and drive under tight timescales and pressure whilst maintaining attention to detail and quality.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
