About the role:

At Eastern Melbourne Primary Health Network, we work to improve the health and wellbeing of our communities through better access, system integration, and data-driven decisions. We are seeking a Senior Data Scientist to lead complex analyses that support strategic decision-making and service design across our catchment.

In this key role, you’ll use your advanced statistical and epidemiological expertise to deliver high-impact insights that shape clinical programs, improve operational performance, and support innovation across the health system.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead the design and delivery of advanced statistical analyses and predictive models using health and administrative datasets
  • Translate complex data into actionable insights to support program evaluation, service planning, and system improvement
  • Collaborate with internal teams, data engineers, and external stakeholders to ensure the effective use of health data
  • Contribute to research, publications, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Mentor others in statistical methods and data science best practice

What you’ll bring:

  • Postgraduate qualifications in Data Science, Biostatistics, Statistics, or a related field
  • Extensive experience working with health data and applying advanced epidemiological and statistical techniques
  • Proficiency in R, Python or similar tools; cloud computing experience desirable
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to communicate technical information clearly
  • A passion for using data to create better health outcomes for diverse communities
